Anxiety erupted after gunmen stormed a Guinea-Bissau radio station

Heavy gunshots heard in the Guinean capital Bissau caused confusion and anxiety among public servants about a week after the coup attempt.But the attack by unknown assailants was not on government buildings but on a private radio station.The station's equipment known as Capital Radio - including broadcasters, as well as computers were damaged.The station is affiliated with the international radio station, Voice of America (VOA), but it is not clear who carried out the attack, or why.The same radio station was attacked in July, 2020.After hearing gunshots, some civil servants were seen fleeing home.At least 11 people were killed on Tuesday last week when militants plotted to overthrow President Umaro Sissoco Embaló, denied by officials.The president has announced an investigation into the coup attempt.
